TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Information pursuant to Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679

This document supplements the privacy policy, to which reference is made for completeness, with the aim of informing site users about the use of cookies by the site itself.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send and store on the user's computer or mobile device, to be sent back to the same sites on the next visit. Thanks to cookies, the site remembers the user's actions and settings (such as login data, chosen language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not have to be entered again when the user returns to visit the same site or navigates from one page to another.

Cookies, therefore, are used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring, and storage of information regarding the activities of users who access a site, and may also contain a unique identification code that allows tracking of the user's navigation within the site itself for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on their computer or mobile device from sites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called "third-party" cookies). Some operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which in certain cases are therefore technically necessary for the very functioning of the site.

There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, and these can remain on the user's computer or mobile device for different periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; and so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user's device until a predetermined expiration date.

According to current regulations in Italy, the use of cookies does not always require the user's explicit consent. In particular, so-called "technical" cookies do not require such consent, meaning those used solely for the purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are cookies that are essential for the functioning of the site or necessary to carry out activities requested by the user.

Among technical cookies, which do not require explicit consent for their use, the Data Protection Authority (see General Provision “Identification of simplified procedures for the information notice and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies - May 8, 2014” and “Cookie guidelines and other tracking tools - June 10, 2021”) also includes:

the “analytics cookies” when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself,

navigation or session cookies (for authentication, to make a purchase, etc.),

functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to them.

For so-called profiling cookies, on the other hand, that is, those aimed at creating user profiles and used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web, prior consent from the user is required.

What types of cookies do we use?

This website does not use profiling cookies.

In particular, this website uses:

Technical cookies, i.e., navigation or session cookies, are strictly necessary for the functioning of the site or to allow the user to use the content and services requested by them.

Analytics cookies, which allow us to understand how the site is used by users. These cookies do not collect information about the user's identity or any personal data: such cookies are comparable to technical cookies, as the fourth component of the IP address is masked. The information is processed in an aggregated and anonymous form. This type of cookie is installed by Siteimprove Analytics and, despite the masking of the IP address, allows for the production of detailed statistics regarding site visitors.

Third-party cookies, that is, cookies from websites or web servers other than this website and used for purposes specific to those third parties.

When visiting a website, you may receive cookies both from the site you are visiting ("first-party"), and from sites managed by other organizations ("third parties"). A notable example is the presence of "social plugins" such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, Instagram, Google. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by these sites and integrated into the host site's page. The most common use of social plugins is to share content on social networks.

The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by their respective privacy policies, which you are kindly requested to refer to. For greater transparency and convenience, the web addresses of the various privacy policies and the methods for managing cookies are provided below.

Technical and analytical cookies

Description: Technical cookies - strictly necessary for the functioning of the site or to allow the user to use the content and services requested by them - and analytical cookies - installed in an aggregated and pseudonymized form in order to understand how the site is used - do not require the user's prior consent for their use.

Third-party cookies

Siteimprove Analytics

This website uses Siteimprove Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Siteimprove.

This is hosted on Amazon AWS and uses latency-based routing to determine which endpoint to use. The endpoints are located in Frankfurt (DE) and in the United States (East and West). For European customers, Frankfurt is used as the primary endpoint by Amazon AWS. Only in the case of a very long time between the request and the response at AWS Frankfurt (latency) or in the unlikely event that AWS Frankfurt is no longer available, the data is retrieved from the endpoints in the USA with the lowest latency.
